When I was a little girl, I collected stickers and I loved them so much, I couldn’t use them. I kept them carefully stashed away in my box of beautiful journal paper that I didn’t dare mar with ink. Too beautiful to use. So precious to me that I eventually forgot all about them and they remained in my stash of childhood treasures that I still have to this day. Now in my life they don’t hold the same meaning anymore.
I never used to enjoy buying flowers or even receiving them. I would think, “they are beautiful, but so temporary.” That was me, always thinking about tomorrow. The moment of today just slipping into tomorrow.
I bought two dozen white roses with red tips today. My car was filled with such a fragrant, fresh smell and I just breathed it in. On my way home from the store, I handed some out, along with a few dollars, to homeless people on the street corners. The smiles of surprise and love they gave me touched me so deeply. I wanted to share some beauty of today with everyone I saw, especially those who are not surrounded by it regularly. Take away some of the ugliness of life.
i shall imagine life is not worth dying if (and when)roses complain their beauties are in vain but though mankind persuades itself that every weed's a rose roses(you feel certain)will only smile -e.e. cummings
