Awakening

“Even as a child she had lived her own small life all within herself. At a very early period she had apprehended instinctively the dual life—that outward existence which conforms, the inward life which questions”-Kate Chopin

Tuesday we were given a short preview of the imminent spring here in Austin.  Blue skies, sun brilliantly shining, the afternoon warming up enough to shed the sweater and go barefoot outside surrounded by silhouettes of grey, leafless trees-what a strange betrayal of nature it seemed that day.  It was as if the world around me was beginning to wake back up again from its winter hibernation….but not just yet.
