Rose of Mary

Rose of Mary

by Carmen H Gray

Dew of the sea

Rose of Mary

I saw a brand new fairy

On a wilder walk today

He fluttered around the fragrant bouquet

Amidst the palest blue bloom

Heavenly scent, verdantly strewn

Transformation before my eyes

A sign of promise in disguise

And off he went without a thought

Of the wondrous gift that he had brought

Pearls to Swine

Pearls to Swine

By Carmen H Gray

Don’t throw pearls to swine

He told me

What does that mean?

She asked

Give only to those who deserve you

As the wholeness of you

Shimmers with milky luster parts

Beholden to spectators

Begging for the shelter of your light

Light does not choose where it shines

She said

Or to whom it may fall

Knaves and doves

Are indistinguishable

In the shadows

And each of us can be swine transformed

To a pearl of light

That we once beheld

I know what it is to lift

And dissipate into the great Nothingness

Where zero is Nothing and Everything

The Light that never goes out

I have spun in that void

With absolute fearlessness

All sense of gravity gone

As if in one tiny profound moment

I escaped the man made time dimension

To see that we knew death

Before we knew life

Absolute nothing encompassing everything

A Soft Cosh

“Above the cloud with its shadow is the star with its light.”

A Soft Cosh

by Carmen H Gray

Two ends meet

Where one side

Is congruent to the other

Twin sides feel

The heavy pull

Bringing the center point

To the same place each time

Whether it be

The delicate silver chain of today

Or the mauve-colored silk string of yesterday

It falls upon you

Each time

Essen Lane

Essen Lane

by Carmen H Gray

There I was driving by a random exit on my journey

Essen Lane

When you sent me a message of the Essenes

Just seconds before

Time was that golden light

North star presenting itself to me

In my visions-La Magdalena, Mother Light

Compassion for the traumatized

Revive the sleeping souls!

The whole spectrum of light

Reverberating in my mind

The world shrunk down

To sound frequencies

And light

“When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown-up we would no longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability… To be alive is to be vulnerable.”-Madeleine L’Engle

Carmen H Gray

the best part

of seeing you

is the familiar parts

of your face

forever etched in my mind

how your upper lip protrudes

ever so slightly

just like in pictures of you

in utero

when I felt soft flutters of life

only now the quavering

appears to reside

in my radiant heart

Through The Glass

“So as through a glass, and darkly
The age long strife I see
Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.”-from Through A Glass, Darkly  by Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.

Through The Glass

by Carmen H Gray

Wisdom doesn’t happen from being wise

It is not a matter of age

Or time or experiences

You become acquainted with it

Or, rather, it acquaints itself with you

In foolish moments of absurdity

Scattered in the wreckage and suffering

As you step beyond the darkness

And see through the glass again

“There are two ways of spreading light. To be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it.” – Edith Wharton.

by Carmen H Gray

The bright light that scintillates

From you

 Illuminates the book that narrates

your life

Glowing girl

Exuberant and fierce

Margarite, an ancient pearl

Born of protection

From assailants

You are not a reflection

You are the flare

That lights up my world

 In every way, everywhere

By Carmen H Gray

The air was cool and damp

I surveyed the distance up to the peak

Perilous rocks, slick with mist

Summoned me to climb them

The first rock I set my foot upon cracked

Breaking into a thousand pieces

Falling below me into the crevasse

But you urged me onward

And above me there were strangers

Perched in higher places

Who motioned for me to join them

Despite my fear of failure

Despite the pain I felt

I pushed myself upward

I did not feel alone

And you and they all cheered me

When I reached the top

At last I gazed below me

Through a slender opening

Yielding a staggering view

Of an ancient city

With perfectly symmetrical edifices

The open sky thanking me

For aligning myself with it

“Did you ever wonder if the person in the puddle is real, and you’re just a reflection of him?”-Bill Watterson

by Carmen H Gray

We are all just moving rays of light

Photons in action

Orbiting around one another like a satellite

Randomly streaming in no particular direction

Until some such silvery object

Creates that fantastical specular reflection

And we finally see

Order created from chaos

Contained within you and me
